From 0-2 Down to 4-3 Up: Barçelona’s Comeback Leaves Real Madrid Reeling

Barcelona edged past Real Madrid in a pulsating 4-3 encounter at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, keeping their domestic treble dreams alive and pushing Los Blancos to a fourth straight Clasico defeat this season. Despite a hattrick from Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid collapsed under relentless pressure from a rejuvenated Barcelona side, who now lead La Liga by seven points with just three games to go.

First-Half Fireworks: From Madrid Control to Barcelona BlitzE

Real Madrid started the match at full throttle, as Kylian Mbappe fired them into a 2-0 lead within the first quarter of an hour. His early penalty and clinical finish from a Vinicius Junior assist looked to set the tone for another Madrid triumph.

However, Barcelona responded with ferocity. Eric Garcia headed in from a corner in the 19th minute to ignite the comeback. The game flipped on its head in a frantic 15-minute spell as Lamine Yamal curled in a stunning equalizer, and Raphinha added two more before the break – the second coming after stealing the ball high up the pitch. By halftime, it was 4-2 to the Catalan giants.

Mbappe’s Record-Breaking Season Continues in Vain

Mbappe completed his hattrick in the 70th minute, poking in from close range after another assist from Vinicius, bringing his goal tally in all competitions to 39 – the highest ever for a Real Madrid player in their debut season. But his individual brilliance wasn’t enough to rescue the team from defeat.

Despite moments of promise, including a disallowed goal from Fermin Lopez and a squandered chance by substitute Victor Muñoz, Madrid couldn’t claw their way back.

Barcelona Match Clasico Record, Dominate the Season Series

With this win, Barcelona became only the second team in history – after their 1982-83 squad – to win all four Clasico matches in a single season. They’ve now defeated Madrid in La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey.

Under Hansi Flick, Barça have grown stronger as the season progressed, bouncing back quickly from their Champions League semi-final exit earlier in the week. The consistency and depth of the squad, led by breakout star Yamal and the ever-dangerous Raphinha, have them on the cusp of a domestic clean sweep.

What’s Next: Title Within Reach for Barça

Barcelona can mathematically secure the La Liga title with a win against Espanyol on Thursday. If not, they’ll still lift the trophy should Real Madrid fail to beat Mallorca.

Madrid, meanwhile, will face pressure to regroup in the offseason after leaking 16 goals across four Clasico defeats. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have struggled to contain elite attacks, and questions are growing around their tactical shape and defensive reliability.
