Conor McGregor hasn’t fought in nearly four years, but that hasn’t stopped the Irishman from stirring the pot—again.

Earlier this week, “The Notorious” fired off a cryptic Instagram story that had fans buzzing. His message?
“Call that big butt nurse,” followed by a tag to UFC CEO Dana White and the UFC’s parent company, TKO Group. He closed it with a classic McGregor line:

“Let’s get this show started.”

Naturally, speculation exploded. Was this the long-awaited signal for his UFC return? Was a fight finally in the works? Not so fast.

Dana White Responds: “I Haven’t Talked to Him in a Minute”

Despite McGregor’s theatrical tease, Dana White quickly threw cold water on the excitement.

In a brief sidewalk interview with Adam Glyn, the UFC boss revealed:

“He’s not fighting anytime soon. I haven’t talked to him in a minute. Yeah, I don’t know.”

So much for the hype.

A Comeback… or Just Another McGregor Tease?

At 36 years old and counting, time is clearly running out for McGregor to stage a meaningful return to MMA. Since breaking his leg in a brutal loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, McGregor has kept fans hanging with vague social media posts and flashy training clips—but no fights.

Even a scheduled showdown with Michael Chandler last June fell apart due to injury, and Chandler has since taken a beating from Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314. Now, some fans wonder if McGregor might pivot toward Pimblett instead—a fight that could offer a more winnable matchup.

The Fans Are Tired of the Waiting Game

While McGregor’s loyal fanbase still holds out hope, many in the MMA world aren’t buying into the drama anymore.

“He’s all talk, no action.”
“No one is interested anymore.”
“Here we go again.”

These were just a few reactions on social media following his latest post.

And it’s not just about talk. Recent training footage showed McGregor hitting pads and bags, but critics were quick to point out the lack of his trademark knockout power.

What’s Next?

With Dana White sounding noncommittal and McGregor floating more questions than answers, the UFC legend’s return remains in limbo.

The only real certainty? McGregor is still a master at keeping his name in the headlines—even if the Octagon feels farther away than ever.

But if he does come back, a bout with Pimblett or a redemption fight against Chandler could be on the table.

Until then, UFC fans can only keep scrolling, waiting for the day a McGregor fight becomes more than just another Instagram story.
