Skateboarders and Tony Hawk fans will be able to get closer to him, through his new skateboards made with blood.
Did you ever think about having blood from your idols? Today, what seems crazy and a situation that exceeds any limit is a reality: Tony Hawk is debuting with a new line of skateboards created with his vital liquid .
The skateboarding legend made an alliance with Liquid Death, a canned water company founded by Mike Cessario. The bad news is that production only hit 100 boards, each sold for $ 500 and sold out in a matter of hours.
“Officially, Liquid Death owns my soul, and my blood? It is confusing. They’re taking my blood and mixing it with paint for some limited edition skateboards. My true blood will be in them“, explains Hawk in a video.
Does Tony Hawk keep the profits?
The answer seems logical since if Tony Hawk put his blood, he would have to find some benefit. However, the production of these skateboards is also for a good cause. A percentage of the 50 thousand dollars will be donated to 5 Gyres, a non-profit organization that fights against plastic pollution.
“I am proud to know that organizations fighting plastic pollution and the creation of skate parks around the world will be supported through our efforts.
“I am deeply grateful to have a connection with my fans, and I appreciate how Liquid Death connects with theirs,” added Tony Hawk.
For the avoidance of doubt, the skateboards will arrive with their owners accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. During the brewing process, blood was drawn from the skater’s arms and went through a sanitization stage; later, it was mixed with the red paint that is now on the boards.
Of course, the legacy goes far beyond insane. The 53-year-old star was just in Japan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There, he supported the new generations of skaters and took advantage of the time to give advice to figures such as the Brazilian Rayssa Leal.
