Dubois vs Usyk 2 Could Decide Undisputed Heavyweight Champion This July

Dubois vs Usyk: Talks are underway for a massive heavyweight clash this summer, as Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk could meet again—this time for all the belts.

Promoter Frank Warren has confirmed that discussions are ongoing for Dubois, the IBF heavyweight champion, to take on Usyk, who currently holds the WBA, WBO, and WBC titles. If finalized, the blockbuster bout is expected to land on 12 July at Wembley Stadium in London.

A Chance at Redemption for Dubois

This would be a rematch of their August 2023 showdown, where Usyk stopped Dubois in the ninth round. That result stirred controversy, with some arguing Dubois landed a legitimate body shot that was ruled a low blow.

Since that defeat, the 27-year-old Brit has been on a mission to rebuild. He returned with three impressive wins, including a knockout over Jarrell Miller, a victory over Filip Hrgovic to claim the IBF title, and most recently, a stunning stoppage of Anthony Joshua.

Now, Dubois wants a second shot at the Ukrainian star — and this time, for the undisputed crown.

Usyk Still Undefeated, Eyeing the Exit

Oleksandr Usyk, now 38, hasn’t fought since December when he beat Tyson Fury for the second time, cementing his place at the top of the heavyweight division. His record stands at a perfect 23-0, and he’s already been undisputed champion at cruiserweight. Becoming the undisputed heavyweight king once again would mark an incredible capstone to his career.

Usyk has hinted he may retire after two more fights, making this potential matchup with Dubois all the more significant.

What Happens If the Fight Falls Through?

While both sides are talking, nothing is official yet. If negotiations break down, Dubois is expected to face veteran Derek Chisora, who is currently the IBF’s top-ranked contender. Dubois had originally been scheduled to defend his belt against Joseph Parker earlier this year, but pulled out due to illness.

Meanwhile, Usyk’s team has reportedly asked the WBO to approve this potential showdown over a mandatory defense against Parker.

A Busy Summer of Boxing

The possible July 12 fight would land right in the middle of a packed sports weekend, with Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano III happening in New York on July 11, Wimbledon’s final weekend underway, and the Women’s Euro 2025 heating up.

Still, a heavyweight unification bout at Wembley would be one of the biggest boxing events of the year — and a moment of history. No British fighter has ever held the undisputed heavyweight title in the four-belt era. The last Brit to become undisputed champ? Lennox Lewis, all the way back in 1999.
