Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis is taking a significant step toward his return from a left adductor strain by working out with the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ G League affiliate. Since being acquired in a blockbuster trade that sent Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers six weeks ago, Davis has played just one game for Dallas. That game, on Feb. 8, saw Davis put up 16 points, seven assists, and three blocks in a 116-105 victory over the Houston Rockets before exiting late in the third quarter due to his injury. He hasn’t played since.
After completing his G League workout, Davis was quickly recalled to the Mavericks on Monday, signaling that he may be close to rejoining the team in game action.
Mavericks’ Injury Struggles and Davis’ Importance
The Mavericks’ roster has been hit hard by injuries, forcing them to play multiple games with the league-minimum eight active players. Key players like Kyrie Irving (torn ACL) and Dereck Lively II (ankle stress fracture) remain sidelined, while the team struggles to maintain depth.
