  • Rising Stars Shine in Playoff Push

The Oklahoma City Thunder officially punched their ticket to the NBA playoffs with an exciting 118-112 victory over the reigning champion Boston Celtics. In what could be a preview of the NBA Finals, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered an MVP-worthy performance, dropping 34 points, seven assists, and five rebounds to silence the TD Garden crowd.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Leads the Charge

Gilgeous-Alexander’s impact was felt throughout the game, but it was in the fourth quarter where he truly shined. With the game on the line, the Thunder executed brilliantly, pulling away thanks to a clutch three-pointer and a reverse layup from rookie guard Cason Wallace. Oklahoma City’s defensive discipline also played a key role, as they held Boston to just 20-for-63 shooting from beyond the arc despite their relentless attempts.

Rising Stars Shine in Playoff Push

While Gilgeous-Alexander stole the spotlight, his teammate Chet Holmgren made his presence felt with a dominant double-double performance of 23 points and 15 rebounds. The 22-year-old big man showcased his versatility on both ends of the floor, providing a strong interior presence and contributing to the Thunder’s defensive success.

Boston’s Jayson Tatum led his team with 33 points, while Derrick White added 22. However, the Celtics struggled to capitalize on their three-point shooting, allowing the young and hungry Thunder squad to seize control in the closing minutes.

With this victory, Oklahoma City improves to a 54-12 record, securing their playoff position and solidifying themselves as serious championship contenders. The Thunder haven’t won a title since their days as the Seattle SuperSonics in 1979, but with this young core, they may be on the verge of something special.
