Boston Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis has etched his name in the record books, becoming only the 10th player in NBA history to record 900 career blocks and 900 three-pointers. This remarkable milestone underscores his rare combination of defensive dominance and perimeter shooting—a skill set that has made him one of the most versatile big men in the modern game.

Porzingis reached the achievement in a pivotal matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on March 18, 2025, helping his team secure a 104-96 win. His performance was nothing short of spectacular, tallying 25 points on an efficient 9-of-13 shooting, along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. His defensive presence was felt in full force, with three rejections coming in a crucial third-quarter stretch. The 7-foot-3 center’s ability to impact both ends of the floor has been a key asset for the Celtics as they push toward the postseason.

Celtics’ Playoff Push Gains Momentum

The victory marked Boston’s 50th win of the season, solidifying their hold on the second seed in the Eastern Conference. With just 13 games left in the regular season, the Celtics are in prime position for a deep playoff run, trailing only the Cleveland Cavaliers in the standings.

Porzingis, who recently returned from a viral illness that sidelined him for eight games, emphasized the importance of building momentum ahead of the postseason.

“I need to get in the best shape possible,” Porzingis said postgame. “Now, after the illness, it’s taking me a little bit, but each day is getting better. The schedule is working out well, and I’m looking forward to hitting my stride before the playoffs.”

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla is mindful of managing Porzingis’ workload, ensuring that the team’s star center remains in peak condition for the critical stretch ahead.

“It’s about finding the right balance,” Mazzulla said. “We need him at his best when it matters most.”

Rookie Baylor Scheierman Steps Up

Another bright spot in the victory was rookie Baylor Scheierman, who made the most of his extended minutes by delivering a career-high 20 points. The 30th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft drained six of his seven three-point attempts, including a clutch shot in the fourth quarter that helped seal the win.

With a six-game road trip against Western Conference opponents looming, the Celtics will need Porzingis and the rest of the squad at their best. When asked about the team’s mindset, Porzingis remained confident:

“Obviously, we expect to win every game. Going 6-0 on this trip would be perfect.”

As the playoffs approach, the Celtics’ blend of experience, depth, and star power could make them a formidable contender. And with Porzingis continuing to make history, Boston fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about what’s to come.
