Aaron Rodgers didn’t need a press release to get NFL fans talking. Just a sly comment and a 32-second clip. While chatting on stage with rapper Mike Stud in Austin, the 41-year-old quarterback was asked about ever signing with the Bears. His response?

“I believe there’s a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip.”

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the few teams scheduled to play in Chicago this season, and Rodgers’ remark instantly fueled rumors that he may be eyeing the Steel City for his 2025 comeback. While nothing is confirmed, it’s another breadcrumb in the growing trail pointing toward a Rodgers-Steelers partnership. With the Jets in his rearview and personal issues delaying a decision, the suspense continues.

Rodgers Reportedly Wants Control of the Offense

If Rodgers does sign with Pittsburgh, it might come with a major condition: calling his own plays. According to insider chatter, the four-time MVP wants a larger say in offensive decisions, possibly even full control of the playbook.

Mark Kaboly, speaking on the Kaboly and Mack podcast, hinted that Rodgers isn’t just looking for a team. He’s looking for autonomy.

“I’ve heard rumblings of Rodgers wanting to call his own plays,” Kaboly said. “He’s been in the league 20 years. He has four MVPs. You have to assume some of that was going to be that anyway.”

That could present a challenge. Pittsburgh has traditionally kept play-calling under strict coaching control, especially since the Ben Roethlisberger era ended. Whether they’re ready to loosen the reins for a future Hall of Famer is a storyline worth watching.
