Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant made NBA history on Friday night despite his team’s 133-124 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Morant put on an electrifying performance, scoring 44 points while adding 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal. His efficient shooting—17-of-22 from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line—highlighted his dominance.

According to Stathead, Morant became the first player in NBA history to record those numbers in a single game, further cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most explosive guards.

Grizzlies Fall Short Against Red-Hot Cavaliers

The Cavaliers, who have now won 16 straight games and 20 of their last 21, proved too much for Memphis even without All-Star Donovan Mitchell. Cleveland’s balanced attack, led by Evan Mobley’s 20 points, overwhelmed the Grizzlies, especially from beyond the arc. The Cavs knocked down 19 three-pointers, exposing Memphis’ defensive struggles.

Jaren Jackson Jr. returned to the Grizzlies’ lineup and contributed 13 points, but it wasn’t enough to slow down Cleveland’s high-powered offense.

Morant’s Recent Surge

Over his last five games, Morant is averaging 32.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 8.0 assists while shooting an impressive 55.8% from the field. Despite the loss, his latest performance is a promising sign that he has regained his rhythm and is ready to lead Memphis moving forward.
